THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government has officially declared a two-day public holiday on May 27 and May 28 in observance of Bakrid (Eid al-Adha).
While the state's official calendar had initially marked May 27 as the holiday, the festival will now be celebrated on May 28 following the non-sighting of the crescent moon. In response to the shift in dates and to ensure maximum convenience for the general public as well as state employees, the administration issued a revised order extending the public holiday to span both days.
According to the official government directive, the holiday will be applicable to all state government offices, banking institutions, and educational centres across the state.
