THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former badminton player Olympian V Diju has been appointed as Ched de mission (Chief of mission) for 36th National Games held in Gujarat from September 27 to October 10. The Kerala Olympic Association has written a letter to the Indian Olympic Association and the Gujarat National Games Organizing Committee in this regard.
Diju, a native of Kozhikode has won the National Badminton Championship six times in mixed doubles and men's doubles. He also represented India in London Olympics, 2012. In 2014, he was honored with the Arjuna Award by the country. He has also received the GV Raja Award. He is an officer in Oil and Natural Gas Corporation.
