
NEW CHANDIGARH: South Africa posted a strong total against India in the second T20I. Batting first after losing the toss, the visitors posted 213 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. Opening batsman and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock was the top scorer for the Proteas, scoring 90 runs off 46 balls, including seven sixes and five fours. Except for Varun Chakraborty, all the bowlers took a beating.
Reeza Hendricks was the first to be dismissed for 8 (10). Hendricks was clean bowled off the very first ball bowled by Varun Chakravarthy. Captain Aiden Markram was the next to be dismissed for 29 (26). De Kock suffered a setback when he was run out just 10 runs shy of his century. Dewald Brevis 14 (10) returned after being dismissed by Axar Patel.
Donovan Ferrari 30*(16) and David Miller 20*(12) increased the run rate in the last overs. The duo remained unbeaten and hit four sixes and three fours. Varun Chakravarthy took two wickets for India. The spinner conceded just 29 runs in his four overs. Axar Patel took one wicket. Key bowlers Jasprit Bumrah (45 runs in four overs) and Arshdeep Singh (54 runs in four overs) conceded runs in quick succession.
