THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The deadline to submit the list of players to be retained ahead of the next season of the IPL is November 15. According to reports, including Cricbuzz, Sanju V Samson is almost certain to join the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings.

The Malayali star had requested the Royals management to release him by the end of the last season. Although Sanju's name had been mentioned in connection with other teams, CSK was far ahead in the race to take the Malayali to their camp. In exchange for bringing Sanju from the Rajasthan Royals, Chennai is releasing former captain and superstar Ravindra Jadeja and English star Sam Curran.

Rajasthan had retained Sanju for Rs 18 crore last season. The Malayali wicketkeeper will get the same amount when he goes to Chennai. But financial experts point out that Sanju could earn more crores with his association with the team. CSK is a franchise that is far ahead of Rajasthan in terms of market value. Sanju Samson is likely to sign many deals through collaborations with various brands during his time in Chennai which would easily secure him an additional income.
