THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala is in a strong position in their Ranji Trophy match against Punjab. Punjab were 180 for 9 at stumps on the second day. Aditya Sarwate's five-wicket haul was the highlight of the second day. Jalaj Saxena took four wickets.
Only 38 overs could be bowled on the second day when rain washed out half of the game. Punjab started the day at 95 for 5 and lost the wicket of Krish Bhagat. Krish Bhagat was dismissed for 15 by Jalaj Saxena. At the other end, Aditya Sarwate dismissed Ramandeep Singh, who continued to bat well. Ramandeep Singh managed to score 43 runs.
Gurnoor Brar and Emanjot Singh, who followed, couldn't hold on for long. Gurnoor Brar (14) and Emanjot Singh (1) were dismissed cheaply. While Gurnoor was clean bowled by Jalaj Saxena, Emanjot Singh was caught by Aditya Sarwate off his own bowling.
Mayank Markande and Siddarth Kaul stitched a partnership for the last wicket to help Punjab cross the 150 runs mark. The duo put on 37 runs together. Mayank (27) and Siddarth (15) were at the crease when stumps were drawn.
