MUMBAI: Former Indian international Subramaniam Badrinath slammed the BCCI decision to drop Ruturaj Dasharath Gaikwad, captain of IPL team Chennai Super Kings, from the upcoming series with Sri Lanka. Badrinath called it a grave sin to omit such a performing batsman from the squad.
In a video shared on social media, Badrinath backed 'good players' such as Rinku Singh and Ruturaj Dasharath Gaikwad, who according to him are often denied a chance in the team.
“Rinku and Gaikwad are often shown the door, despite their consistent performance in domestic games. Sometimes it feels like one should build up a relationship with Bollywood actresses, have a good media manager and a tattoo on the body to earn a place in the squad.”
In the recently concluded three-match series with Zimbabwe, Gaikwad scored 7,77, and 49 respectively. Despite the decent performance, Gaikwad was dropped from the Sri Lankan series squad paving the way for the return of Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill will open the batting for India in the upcoming series.
Shocked and surprised not to see Ruturaj Gaikwad in the Indian Team for both T20I and ODIs.
