GUWAHATI: India appears to be sliding toward defeat in the second Test against South Africa, with the hosts holding a commanding lead as play moves into the fourth day. The Indian batting lineup faces an uphill task in the final stages of the match.

In the morning session, India managed to dismiss openers Ryan Rickelton (35) and Aiden Markram (29), along with captain Temba Bavuma (3). Soon after the start of the second session, Tony de Zorzi fell for 49, missing his half-century by a single run, with Ravindra Jadeja claiming his wicket.

Tristan Stubbs has brought up a gritty fifty and is unbeaten on 86, while Wiaan Mulder remains at the crease on 34. As per the latest update, South Africa have stretched their overall lead to 540, reaching 252 for 4 after 77 overs.
