NEW DELHI: Indian cricketer Deepti Sharma filed a complaint against Arushi Goel, a player of UP Warriorz in the Women's Premier League, for breaking into her flat and stealing gold jewellery and money.

As per the complaint, Arushi impersonated Deepti into duping Rs 25 lakh and gold ornaments. Deepti Sharma also alleged that Arushi had taken away US currency worth Rs 2 lakh that was kept in the flat. The police have registered an FIR on the complaint filed by Deepti's brother and have started an investigation.

Deepti and Arushi were close friends. The two played domestic cricket together and later became teammates in the Women's Premier League. Arushi had taken money from Deepti several times, citing financial problems in the family. There are also reports that Deepti approached the police after Arushi failed to return the money back on time.

The complaint states that Arushi broke into Deepti’s flat in Agra and committed the crime. She then changed the lock of the flat and installed a different one. Deepti Sharma is currently in the Indian team camp for the England tour.

Deepti is a DSP rank officer in UP Police while Arushi has played for India A in her cricket career. Arushi has not yet responded to the complaint filed by Deepti’s brother.
