THRISSUR: The semifinal matches of the Super League Kerala, scheduled today, were postponed due to the lack of adequate security arrangements. The matches between Thrissur Magic FC, Malappuram FC, Kannur Warriors and Calicut FC have been postponed. The match between Thrissur Magic FC and Malappuram FC, scheduled at 7:30 pm tonight at the Thrissur Corporation Stadium, was postponed following instructions of the City Police Commissioner. The Kannur-Calicut match, scheduled on December 10, was also postponed for the same reason.
The City Police Commissioner had written to the team's organisers requesting a schedule change in the context of the local body elections. The police sent a letter to the organisers of Super League Kerala, Thrissur Magic FC, and Malappuram FC. The police's notification pointed out the difficulty in allotting officials on duty as multiple tasks, including the Sabarimala season, in addition to the election duty, are in progress. Following this, the decision to postpone the match was reached. The police also warned of strict action if the organisers proceed with the match, ignoring the notification.
