KOLKATA: Argentine football legend Lionel Messi amassed Rs 89 crore just from the GOAT India tour held this month. The figures were released by the main organiser in Kolkata, Satadru Dutta. He said that out of the total revenue of Rs 100 crore from the tour, Rs 11 crore was paid as tax to the central government. 30 per cent of the total income was collected through sponsorship and 30 per cent through ticket sales.

Meanwhile, Satadru Dutta gave a statement on the shambolic arrangement of the event in Kolkata’s iconic Salt Lake Stadium. Satadru said that Messi did not like being touched and hugged by fans during the tour. Following this, announcements were made to control the crowd, but to no avail. Dutta also stated that fans' mobbing made the superstar uncomfortable.

Satadru Dutta was arrested by the police following an organisational mess-up during an event at the Salt Lake Stadium. Furious fans threw chairs and bottles at the stadium, causing mayhem. The government appointed a special investigation team to investigate the incident. Satadru Dutta alleges that the planning of the event completely went awry when a prominent person arrived unsolicited at the stadium.
