PARIS: India won the third medal for India in the Paris Olympics. Swapnil Kushale won bronze in the men's 50m rifle 3P final. Kushale secured the third position by scoring 451.4 points. 44 shooters competed in the qualifying round. Eight of them competed in the final round. Chinese player Liu Yuqin is in first place with 463.6 points. Ukraine's S Kulish took second place with 461.3 points.
Although he was behind in the kneeling position and prone position, Kushale performed well in the standing position and finished third. Kushale entered the final in the men's 50m rifle 3P final shooting qualification round held yesterday.
Another Indian player, Aishwari Pratap Singh Tomar, who competed in the event along with Swapnil, could not make it to the finals. Aishwari finished 11th in the qualifying round. Swapnil scored 590 points in the qualifying round from three positions including 38 inner ten-point shots. Swapnil's scoring was 198 (99+99) in kneeling position, 197(98+99) in prone position and 195(98+97) in the standing position. Aishwari scored only 589 points.
India won three medals in the shooting events at the Paris Olympics. Manu Bhakar won bronze in 10m air pistol and Manu Bhakar and Sarabjot Singh won bronze in mixed 10m air pistol. This is India's medal tally till the sixth day of the Paris Olympics.
