WASHINGTON: The anniversary of the Sivagiri Ashram of North America, a leading spiritual movement of the Sivagiri Mutt in the U.S., along with the Guru Deva Pratishta (idol installation) anniversary, will be celebrated on May 23. Starting at 9:30 AM, the event will feature Ganapathi Homam, Shanti Havana Yajnam, Maha Guru Puja, Sri Sharada Puja, Kalashabhishekam, spiritual discourses, congratulatory messages, and bhajans. Swami Guruprasad will lead the core rituals. Numerous devotees and ashram associates from various U.S. states are expected to attend.

Continuing the mission started by predecessors like Nataraja Guru and Guru Nitya Chaitanya Yati to introduce Guru Deva’s philosophy to the Western world, the ashram is actively working to bring the American public closer to Guru’s teachings. Their initiatives span spirituality, education, religious harmony, healthcare, environmental awareness, women’s empowerment, and value-based education. To propagate the vision of "One Caste, One Religion, One God for Mankind," the ashram envisions a vast library, research facilities, seminars, and classes, alongside yoga and meditation training. Notably, on January 31, two American associates of the ashram received Sanyasa Deeksha (monastic initiation) at a ceremony held at Gurudeva Giri in Mumbai.
