
SAN FRANCISCO: An Indian student from Karnataka was found dead in the USA. The dead identified as Saketh Sreenivasaiah (22), who was pursuing his postgraduate studies at the University of California (Berkeley) in the US, was found dead. He was reported missing since February 9. His death was confirmed by the Indian Consulate in San Francisco.
Police said Saketh was last seen near Lake Anza on Dwight Way on Tuesday. Local police have been searching for Saketh since he went missing. The police also found a bag containing his passport and laptop near a park near the university campus during the search. The Indian Consulate in X said that the police have confirmed finding his body and has also informed the family. The consulate said that the process to repatriate the body is in progress.
Saketh came to the US for higher studies after earning BTech in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras in 2025. Saketh is a master's student in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California.
He was good in the fields of semiconductors and advanced materials. Although the police have not released further details related to the death, the police suspect that the circumstances of Saketh's death are unnatural. Consulate officials are discussing with the authorities to arrange for the repatriation of the body.
