FLORIDA: A passenger plane plummeted to 15,000 feet minutes apart during mid-flight. The American Airlines flight was en route to Gainesville, North Carolina, USA.
Due to an air pressure problem, the plane had to descend 15,000 feet in three minutes. Within 11 minutes, the plane fell about 20,000 feet. During the first six minutes of the 43-minute journey the plane descended to 18,600 feet. All the passengers were gripped by panic during this incident. Some shared pictures on Twitter.
Harrison Howe, a professor at the University of Florida and a passenger on the plane, recounted the event. ‘I’ve flown a lot. This was scary. Kudos to our amazing flight staff on @AmericanAir 5916. The photos cannot capture the burning smell, loud bang or ear pops. Good to be on the ground.’ The incident took place on August 10. It has been reported that the plane landed safely at its destination.
