VATICAN CITY: Pope Francis called for a ceasefire in Gaza even in his final message for Easter yesterday. Thousands of believers arrived in Rome yesterday for prayers. The Pope, who was resting due to illness, met the believers for a while on the terrace of St. Peter's Basilica in a wheelchair yesterday. He waved and wished everyone a happy Easter. His aide read the Easter message.
The Pope's message was that peace is not possible without religious freedom and freedom of expression. He also called on the believers to respect the views of others. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and asked Hamas to release the hostages.
He condemned the deplorable humanitarian situation in Gaza. He also expressed concern about the spread of anti-Semitism globally. He said that his thoughts are with the people suffering from the war in Gaza and Israel. The people suffering from hunger in Gaza must be helped.
