THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Eric Sukumaran, a native of Varkala Sivagiri, Thiruvananthapuram to contest the British parliamentary elections. Eric is running as a member of Parliament as a candidate for the Conservative Party led by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Voting is on July 4. 38-year-old Eric is seeking the seat from the Southgate and Wood Green constituency. Eric is also a World Bank consultant.
He is the only child of Johnny and Anita Sukumaran. Father's hometown is Attingal Anchuthengu. Mother's is Srinivasapuram near Sivagiri. His father worked in the cooperative finance sector in the UK. Eric was born and raised in the UK. He knows Malayalam very well because his grandfather and grandmother were with him and he did not stop coming home during holidays.
Eric Sukumaran holds a BA from the UK and an MBA from Oxford University. After working in investment banking, he joined the British government civil service (equivalent to IAS in India) and worked on various government projects. He also undertakes initiatives related to the renewable energy sector. Eric has worked with former Prime Minister Boris Johnson in 2012 when he was Mayor of London. His wife is Lindsey, an American.

Eric Sukumaran is a devotee of Sree Padmanabhaswamy. He never fails to visit the temple when he comes to Kerala. Eric visits Guruvayur and family temples and likes Kovalam and backwaters in Kerala. His favourite dish when he visits Kerala is Neymeen Pollichathu and he also likes to eat tender coconut with Jaggery.
