KUWAIT: Ministry of Kuwait has recently mandated digital driving licenses for expatriates, effective from December 10. Under the new law, non-resident drivers are no longer required to carry physical copies of their driving licenses.

The newly issued digital licenses are valid for one year and necessitate annual renewal. Renewal procedures can be completed conveniently via the Sahel app or the Ministry's website. However, this digital format is not applicable to family drivers or international cargo drivers under Article 20 visas; they must continue carrying printed copies.

Validity of the digital licenses can be easily verified through the mobile ID app. A green status indicates an active license while red indicates expiration. It's important to note that when driving abroad, expatriates should possess licenses issued by the respective countries' authorities.

Moreover, the Ministry has warned individuals driving with expired licenses; their licenses will be revoked. This initiative aims to streamline government services, reduce paper usage and simplify administrative processes.
