SANAA: The 13-year-old daughter of Malayali nurse Nimisha Priya, who is serving a death sentence in prison, arrived in Yemen on Monday. Michelle reached Yemen with her father, Tommy Thomas, and Global Peace Initiative Founder Dr KA Paul. The child is in the Arab nation to plead with the authorities for her mother's release.
Nimisha Priya has not seen her daughter for the past ten years. Michelle made a request in both Malayalam and English to the authorities.
'I love my mother very much. Please help me bring my mother back home. I want to see my mother. I miss my mother a lot,' said Michelle.
Nimisha Priya's husband, Tommy Thomas, also made the request. 'Please save my wife Nimisha Priya. Help me bring her back to her homeland,' he said.
In 2017, the court found Nimisha Priya guilty in the brutal murder case of Yemeni citizen Talal Abdo Mahdi. In 2020, the trial court sentenced her to death. The only way to escape the death penalty is to seek forgiveness from Talal’s family; however, it has not happened yet.
Nimisha Priya's mother, Premakumari, had earlier gone to Yemen to meet Talal's family in person and apologise. Negotiations were held with Talal's family and the heads of the tribe, but they didn’t yield any positive results.
Nimisha Priya is the wife of Thodupuzha native Tommy Thomas. Nimisha Priya claims that Talal Abdo Mahdi, who promised to help her start a clinic while she was working as a nurse, seized her passport and brutally tortured her, which resulted in retaliation from her side.
