
OTTAWA: Ten including the shooter were killed in a shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in the province of Canada’s British Columbia. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has released more details about the incident. Six were found dead inside the school and one died before being taken to hospital, the RCMP said in a statement released. Police said two more people were found dead at a house believed to be linked to the shooting.
Police believe the shooter may have shot herself inside the school. The injured have been taken to hospital. Those in critical condition have been shifted to other hospitals for better treatment and people with minor injuries have been admitted to medical centers. Police said other children and teachers trapped inside the school have been safely evacuated.
Meantime, the police have not released the real cause of the attack. A tense situation prevails in the area. A high alert has been declared in the province following the incident. Schools in the area have been closed immediately and police security has been beefed up. It is considered one of the deadliest shootings in the history of Canada. Tumbler Ridge Secondary School is located in the town of Tumbler Ridge, which has a population of about 2,400. The school has grades from seven to 12. Official information shows that the school presently has 175 students.
