LA PAZ: A Bolivian military plane crashed on a busy road in El Alto killing 15 people and injuring 30 others on Friday evening. The plane was carrying newly printed currency notes from the central bank.

The military plane crashed into a busy road near El Alto International Airport and nearby vehicles. Several vehicles were reportedly damaged in the accident. The dead included civilians and those on board the plane. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals. The condition of some is reported to be critical. The cause of the accident is not yet clear, but it is believed to be due to adverse weather conditions. El Alto International Airport was temporarily closed following the accident.

Defense Minister Marcelo Salinas said the Hercules C-130 plane was transporting newly printed Bolivian currency when it landed and veered off the runway at an airport in El Alto, a city adjacent to the capital of La Paz, before ending up in a nearby field. Firefighters managed to put out the flames that engulfed the aircraft.
