KHARTOUM: The situation is further deteriorating in Sudan, the country ravaged by civil war. The city of El-Fasher, a stronghold of the Sudanese army, was captured by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and people have started to flee en masse.

According to the UN, more than 60,000 people have already fled the region. Mirjana Spoljaric, head of the Red Cross, termed the situation as dire. Volunteer organisations, including the Red Cross, are preparing to provide as much assistance as possible.

Footage of the RSF massacring people is being widely circulated as their notorious leader, Abu Tulu, himself shared the video on TikTok. Tulu said he lost count of the murders committed and said he will begin from zero again. Protests are intensifying around the world over the mayhem ongoing with impunity in Sudan. Tens of thousands are stranded without water and food.

Fierce fighting continues between the army and the RSF. Even infants were butchered and livestreamed by RSF leader Abu Lulu. Women and children are being raped. Survivors have revealed that the bodies of children and women are scattered around. RSF paramilitary cadres are barging into homes in this area. Satellite images have also emerged showing the massacre. The previous day, about 500 people, including doctors, patients, and residents, were massacred at the Saudi Maternity Hospital, a former hospital operating in El-Fasher. It was also reported that the RSF kidnapped six health workers, including four doctors, and demanded a ransom of 1.5 million dollars for their release.

Adarsh Behra, a native of Jagatsinghpur, Odisha, was abducted by RSF amid chaos in the country. Sudanese Ambassador to India, Mohammed Abdullah Ali Al-Tom, said that they are coordinating with the authorities and the Indian Ministry of External Affairs for his release. Meanwhile, a video of Adarsh sitting with RSF soldiers has surfaced on social media. One of the RSF soldiers is seen asking Adarsh Behra if he knows Shah Rukh Khan. In the video, Adarsh is seen sitting on the ground with folded hands and requesting the Odisha government to help.
