Eight-year-old boy's 'wedding chain' gift to classmates leaves parents stunned

BEIJING: It is normal for kids to envy the expensive things their friends possess. Unlike them, an eight-year-old boy from eastern China has given away his mother’s gold chain to express his idea of friendship. However, the plot changed after his parents came to know about it. In order to distribute the gift among all of his classmates, the boy bit the chain into small parts and distributed them. The parents came to know about it when one of the kids told his sister.

The boy admitted it when questioned later. It is seen that the boy took the chain from the drawer, as the CCTV visuals show. Some reports say that the father gave him a belt treatment for his mischief.

Although they attempted to recover the chain later, the parents could recover only a few parts. The boy responded that he was unaware of the value of the chain. The boy also said that he initially used a player to cut the chain, but bit it down later as it failed. The boy stated that he doesn’t remember to whom he gave the pieces and doesn’t know where the rest of the parts are kept.

The boy’s mother wrote on social media that the chain was a wedding gift from her husband.
