MOSCOW: Ukraine's drone attack targeting the Russian capital Moscow has disrupted air traffic. The incident came as the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine was about to be completed on Tuesday. 71 drones entered Russian airspace since 2 pm local time. Of these, 11 were targeting Moscow. Russia shot down all the drones before they reached their destination. There were no casualties or significant damage.
Four airports in Moscow were closed for more than an hour as a security precaution. More than 100 flights were diverted. Operations returned to normal after the threat was lifted. Russia launched 297 drones and 50 missiles into Ukraine in the early hours of Sunday. According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration a 49-year-old man was killed and 15 people were injured, including four children.
This is not the first time that Ukrainian drones have caused panic and disrupted air services in Russian cities, including Moscow. On the 17th of this month, more than 150 Ukrainian drones were shot down in various parts of Russia.
