WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump threatened to block all ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz after peace talks with Iran at Islamabad ended without a deal. Trump has ordered the US Navy to block all ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said on Truth Social that no ship paying the toll illegally levied by Iran will be allowed to pass through the international maritime border.

Trump also said that the Navy will begin operations to remove mines placed by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump warned that if Iran fires on American ships or ships transiting the Hormuz peacefully, retaliation will follow. The main condition put forward by the United States was to ensure free passage through the international shipping lane. Trump reiterated that Iran should be ready to open the international shipping lane as soon as possible. Reports indicate that there is a possibility of another military move after the peace talks failed.
