WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump sharply criticised Israel and Iran for violating the ceasefire within hours of reaching the pact. Trump criticised Israel's planned move to attack the Iranian capital, Tehran and warned Tel Aviv not to drop bombs and violate the pact.
“I am not happy with Israel and Iran either. I am really unhappy with Israel for planning another attack on Iran. We have two counties going on against each other that they don’t know what the **** they’re doing,” said Trump.
Trump had earlier announced that a ceasefire agreement was reached between the two countries. Both countries agreed to the pact, but Iran refrained from putting an official confirmation.
Trump told the media that he was unhappy with the ceasefire violation. He also expressed his dissatisfaction with Israel for agreeing to the agreement and then immediately withdrawing from it. Trump's response came as he was preparing to leave Washington to attend the NATO summit in the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz blamed Iran’s offensive after the pact for forcing Israel to give the deserved response. The IDF also said that it had intercepted the missiles launched by Iran. Just before reaching the ceasefire pact, four were killed and many injured in Iranian strikes inside Israel.
