
TEHRAN: Iranian state television released the first official message from Iran's new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei. Mojtaba has not yet appeared or responded in public amid assassination threats from Israel and the United States.
Mojtaba's message was released in the current extraordinary situation. In his first message, Mojtaba called for national unity and announced that he would continue to close the Strait of Hormuz to put pressure on Iran's enemies. Mojtaba stated that Iran believes in friendship with its neighbours and will continue to target only American bases. In his message, Mojtaba also said that Iran will take revenge on the Western forces for the death of martyrs.
