KOZHIKODE: The Kasaba Police have launched an investigation into a major loan fraud uncovered at the Kozhikode City Police Employees' Co-operative Society.

The case was registered following a complaint by a department employee who had stood as a guarantor for what was supposed to be a ₹2.5 lakh loan. According to law enforcement sources, the accused allegedly manipulated the documentation to illicitly sanction an inflated loan amount of ₹25 lakhs.

The police have booked 11 members of the society’s Board of Directors, alongside an inspector for their suspected involvement in the scam. Reports indicate that the whistleblower was forced to approach the City Police Commissioner directly after local authorities initially failed to act on an earlier grievance. The investigation is currently ongoing.
