KOZHIKODE: The LDF has secured a relief victory in the Beypore constituency, with minister P A Mohammed Riyas winning by a margin of over 7,000 votes. However, his victory margin is lower compared to the previous election. NDA candidate K P Prakash Babu finished second, while UDF candidate P V Anvar was pushed to third place.

Reacting to the result, Mohammed Riyas thanked the people of Beypore for supporting the LDF. “In 2021, the trend was strongly in favour of the LDF. Though the margin has come down, the people of Beypore have stood with us. There may be those who did not vote and those who did not support the LDF. I will work as the MLA for everyone. The leadership will respond to the overall verdict for the LDF after discussions,” he said.

Meanwhile, P V Anvar said he had predicted that the election outcome would reflect the stance of Left workers who opposed “Pinarayism.” “What I said has come true. It is the Left supporters and comrades who have brought Pinarayi down from power. I have no disappointment in losing. I entered the contest prepared to face all challenges. Even though I lost, I am satisfied. I ensured that my opponent could not even step out of the constituency during the campaign,” he said.
