Temperature likely to rise by three to four degrees Celsius above normal

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the temperature will rise in the state today. It is reported that it will be three to four degrees Celsius above normal. There is a possibility of a temperature rise of up to 40 degrees Celsius in Palakkad.

The temperature will rise up to 39 degrees Celsius in Kollam and up to 38 degrees Celsius in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur and Kozhikode. The IMD has informed that the temperature is likely to rise up to 37 degrees Celsius in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod and up to 36 degrees Celsius in Thiruvananthapuram.
The IMD has pointed that due to high temperatures and humid air, hot and uncomfortable weather is likely in these districts except in the hilly areas.


There is no special rain warning in any of the districts today. Light rain is predicted in all districts. Yellow alert has been issued in various districts for tomorrow, the day after tomorrow and May 1.

Yellow alert has been issued in the following districts. Isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain is received in 24 hours.
