THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has formed a search committee for the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of Calicut University. The members are Dr. Eluvathingal Devassy Jemmis of IIT Bangalore (Chancellor's representative), State Science and Technology Council Member Secretary Prof. A. Sabu (Senate representative), and Mumbai University VC Prof. Ravindra D. Kulkarni (UGC representative). The convener is the Chancellor's representative.
A panel of three to five names should be provided for the appointment of the VC within three months. The Calicut Senate meeting held recently appointed a representative to the search committee. The search committee provided the representative, putting an end to the clash with the governor.
The previous meeting had appointed Dr. Dharmaraj Adat, former VC of Sanskrit University, as the Senate representative. Dr. Sabu was selected after Dharmaraj Adat withdrew. The Governor of Kerala has not made the digital and technology university VC appointments despite the SC appointing a search-cum-selection committee headed by a retired Supreme Court judge.
