NEW DELHI: BJP MLA from Delhi's Patparganj, Ravinder Singh Negi, slipped and fell into the Yamuna river while shooting reels. Negi was shooting reels to create awareness about keeping the Yamuna River clean when he fell into the river. The incident comes amid political tension over BJP’s claim of cleansing the Yamuna ahead of the Chhath Puja celebrations.
"Making empty promises has become a profession for them. Maybe they are tired of the politics of lies and boasting, so the Yamuna river called them to its side," Aam Aadmi Party MLA Sanjeev Jha said while sharing the video.
In the 19-second video, Negi is seen standing on the bank of the river with two bottles. While trying to get up from his knees, Negi lost his balance, got covered in mud and fell into the water. A person nearby rushed to help, but could not stop the fall. The video also shows a soaked Negi later coming out of the river.
Aam Aadmi Party's Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bhardwaj had earlier challenged Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to drink water from the river to prove her claim of cleaning the river.
