MUMBAI: Despite their hard-fought efforts this IPL season, Mumbai Indians’ difficult run continues. Even after setting a massive target of 244 runs, it wasn't enough to stop the "Orange Army." Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the total with eight balls to spare, losing only four wickets, a result that effectively ends Mumbai's hopes for a play-off spot. The victory was anchored by fiery batting performances from Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen.

The Chase

Openers Travis Head 76 (30) and Abhishek Sharma 45 (24) gave Hyderabad a blistering start, putting on a 129-run partnership for the first wicket in just 8.4 overs. The tide briefly turned when Allah Ghazanfar struck twice on consecutive deliveries, removing Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan (who was playing for SRH in this matchup) for 0. Shortly after, when the score reached 133, Head was dismissed by Hardik Pandya.

However, Mumbai's hopes were quickly dashed by Heinrich Klaasen. Coming in at number four, Klaasen smashed a devastating 65* off 30 balls. He was well-supported by Nitish Kumar Reddy, who contributed 21 (17) before his dismissal. Salil Arora then stepped in, batting without pressure to guide Hyderabad past the finish line. For Mumbai, Ghazanfar took two wickets, while Trent Boult and Hardik Pandya claimed one each.

Mumbai’s Innings

Earlier, Mumbai Indians posted a formidable 243 for 5 in their 20 overs. The standout performer was wicketkeeper-batter Ryan Rickelton, who scored a magnificent century. His 123* (55) included 10 fours and 8 sixes.

Rickelton and Will Jacks 46 (22) provided a flying start, sharing a 93-run partnership in just 43 balls. The stand was broken when Nitish Kumar Reddy dismissed Jacks. Suryakumar Yadav followed, hitting a boundary on his first ball before being dismissed for 5. Naman Dhir contributed 22 (17), while captain Hardik Pandya added a quick 31 (15).

Tilak Varma was dismissed in the final over for 7 (5), leaving Robin Minz at the crease as the non-striker. On the bowling side for Sunrisers, Praful Hinge took two wickets, while Eshan Malinga, Sakib Hussain, and Nitish Kumar Reddy took one wicket apiece.
