Actor Sivakarthikeyan is happy with the positive response he has received for his performance in Sudha Kongara-directed period drama Parasakthi. The actor also said that Tamil superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan called and congratulated him. Sivakarthikeyan opened up about this at a press conference held to celebrate the success of the film. Sivakarthikeyan said that he was surprised by the compliments he received from the legendary stars.
"Thalaivar Rajinikanth sir called me yesterday. He said it was a very bold film. He reiterated that the second half was great. Kamal sir also saw the film and praised all those who were part of the movie. It is difficult to get such a compliment from him. We talked about the film for about five minutes. Even for the film 'Amaran', the conversation with him lasted only two to three minutes," the star added.
‘Parasakthi’ hit the theatres on January 10. The film was released after making about 25 changes due to hurdles related to the censor board. The film is set against the backdrop of the anti-Hindi protests in Tamil Nadu in 1965. The Tamil Nadu Youth Congress had come out against the film, alleging that it distorted historical facts and insulted Congress leaders. Responding to the ban and criticism against the film, director Sudha Kongara clarified that she stands by her freedom of expression and that there has been no historical distortion.
