Dileep and Manju Warrier, one of the most cherished on-screen pairs in Malayalam cinema, have shared the screen in numerous films. The couple married in 1998 but legally parted ways in 2014. Recently, renowned director and cinematographer P. Sukumar opened up about their acting prowess, particularly in the films Sallapam and Ee Puzhayum Kadannu, during an interview with a YouTube channel.
"In Ee Puzhayum Kadannu, there is a scene where Dileep tells Manju about killing the villain. He tells this while hugging her. Both of them acted very well. The scene was filmed in a single take.
Their chemistry was remarkable, making the scenes feel completely natural. That particular sequence was shot at night. Another moment in the film required Manju to cry as Dileep’s character was arrested by the police. Even after the cut, she could not stop crying, which added authenticity. In Sallapam, Manju’s character has a dramatic scene where she jumps in front of a train, and that too was filmed in a single take,” Sukumar said.
