History at Cannes! Santhosh Sivan becomes first Asian to win Pierre Angénieux award

Ace Cinematographer and director Santhosh Sivan on Saturday received the prestigious Pierre Angénieux ExcelLens in Cinematography honour at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. This is the first time an Asian is bestowed this honour by the reputed Cannes Film Festival. The veteran cinematographer from Thiruvananthapuram is already clouded in congratulatory messages from the film fraternity and others.

Actor Mohanlal also congratulated Santosh Sivan:

It was in 2013 that the Cannes started giving the Pierre Angénieux ExcelLens in Cinematography awards. In his illustrious career, Santosh Sivan’s cabinet is filled with 12 National Awards, four Kerala State Awards, three Tamil Nadu State Awards and many international awards.
