Suma Jayaram, well-known to Malayalees through movies and teleserials during the early 2000s, took a break from her acting gig after marriage. Now, Suma Jayaram has spoken openly about her husband in an interview given to a media outlet.
SUMA JAYARAM:
"In these 14 years of marriage, I haven’t even once visited my home. Even after the first week of marriage, I knew this was bound to be a failure. Some days, my husband would be seen irate, unleashing anger, all in an inebriated state. I could have packed my bags and left him there. However, I didn’t do that. This is not the life I expected.
My husband would often ask me to escape and marry a second time to lead a happy life. Why should I marry again? I understood what it is. I would never do it again. It is better to stay free and keep company with people we like. Not just alcohol, there still exist many misunderstandings between us. I am still in a terrible situation.
My husband keeps a boundary for everything. He just has two or three friends in total and barely makes any friendly interactions with anyone. Sometimes, he would tell me to go and act in movies again.
Anyone who sees Mammootty sir at the airport will run and take a photo. I will tell you something that happened in my life. We were going on an international trip. While we were having food, Mammootty came up. The actor was in a hurry but suddenly stopped his walk after recognising me. I ran towards him and talked about what I was doing currently in life. My husband was at the time having food at the lounge. When it came to introducing him to Mammootty, my husband said he was having food and would meet that actor another time. Mammootty sir understood that he was a reserved type of person.”
