West Bengal’s Murshidabad is witnessing bloodshed and violence of an inexplicable level following the protests on the Waqf bill. The protest against the bill morphed into targeted attacks against a certain community. The members of the Hindu community in the constituency are allegedly being dragged out of their homes and attacked in broad daylight. Many of the houses in the region have been set on fire by miscreants. At the same time, shops were destroyed and looted by the same protestors with impunity.

Just a day back, a father and son were dragged out of their house in the area and hacked to death. With brutality and violence engulfing the place, the locals have come up pleading for the president’s rule in the area. The locals alleged that the police remained a puppet even after witnessing all the violence taking place right under their noses.

“We want BSF patrolling in the area or presidents ruling in the place. They are barging into our houses with weapons,' said a local.

The Calcutta High Court on Saturday ordered immediate deployment of central forces in Murshidabad and even instructed both the TMC-ruled government in Bengal and the central government to submit a detailed report.
