KOCHI: Actress Seema G Nair has expressed her disappointment over veteran actor Mohanlal’s decision to step down from the leadership of AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists). Sharing a heartfelt message on social media, Seema metaphorically compared Mohanlal to a large, sheltering tree and voiced her regret over his decision.
'When there is a large tree that offers shade, many fail to realise its value. Only when it’s gone do we understand how much comfort that shade truly provided,' she wrote, alongside a photo of herself with Mohanlal.
The statement comes in the wake of AMMA’s recent general body meeting, where Mohanlal announced that it would not be appropriate for him to continue as president. His decision follows the ongoing aftermath of the Hema Committee report and its implications, which he said still haven’t been fully resolved.
Despite strong support from within the organisation urging him to continue in the role, Mohanlal stood firm in his decision. During the meeting, members also proposed having more women in the committee and suggested appointing a woman as the next general secretary. Mohanlal reportedly stated that the challenges and difficulties faced by someone in the president’s role should be understood and that it is time for the new generation to take on leadership responsibilities.
