Unni Mukundan to step down from treasurer post of ‘AMMA’

KOCHI: Actor Unni Mukundan has informed that he is resigning from the treasurer post of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). In a post shared on social media, the actor said that he is stepping down from his role as the treasurer after much thought and reflection. The actor said that he had truly enjoyed his time in the post and it has been both an exciting and rewarding experience. The actor said that he is resigning from the post following other production commitments after the success of his recent film ‘Marco’.

‘However, in recent months, the increasing demands of my work, particularly with Marco and other production commitments, have significantly impacted my mental health. Balancing these responsibilities, along with the pressures of my professional life, has become overwhelming. I now realize the importance of stepping back to focus on my own well-being and that of my family’s.

While I have always given my best in serving this role, I recognize that I can no longer fulfill my duties effectively given the growing commitments ahead. It is with a heavy heart that I submit my resignation. I will, however, continue to serve until a new member is appointed, ensuring a smooth transition,’ the actor said.

Meantime, AMMA'S governing body was dissolved after the controversy that sparked soon after the release of the Hema Committee report. The governing body was dissolved when allegations were levelled against general secretary Siddique and following the case registered. The ad hoc committee is presently in charge of the organization. The ad hoc committee can continue till June this year.
