NEW DELHI: Thousands of Indians, including Malayalees, settled in Gulf countries, are perturbed over the worsening conflict in middle east that has now resulted in raining missiles in GCC countries.

An Iranian missile hit a residential apartment complex in Bahrain last night. No further details have been released. An Iranian missile also hit a building complex in Hurghada, Kuwait, at 10.45 pm Indian time. A missile hit a hotel in Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, causing a fire. Four people were injured.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs assessed the situation and said that Indians need not worry. Indian embassies in countries like Iran, Israel, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait, UAE, and Oman are keeping the Ministry of External Affairs informed about the situation there. If the situation worsens, Indian citizens will be evacuated.

The Ministry of External Affairs also directed the Ministry of Civil Aviation to be prepared in case of an emergency. The information is being conveyed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A special meeting is also being considered under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. Indian embassies are in constant communication with Indian citizens in conflict-affected countries. The Ministry of External Affairs has advised them to remain vigilant. Citizens have been advised to stay in touch with embassies and follow local security guidelines.

India expressed deep concern over the conflict in the Middle East:

“All countries involved in this should exercise restraint. Conflict should be avoided. The safety of civilians should be given priority. Dialogue and diplomacy are needed to avoid conflicts and resolve fundamental issues. The sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries should be respected,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
