KOLKATA: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has said that comparing RSS only through a political lens will lead to a misunderstanding of the organization. He was speaking at an event organized in Kolkata to mark the 100th anniversary of RSS. Many people tend to compare RSS only with BJP. He clarified that this is a big mistake.

Comparing the organization with other service organizations or political movements can lead to misunderstandings. RSS should be understood through its real objectives. The main objective of the Sangh is to mold individuals with moral values and commitment to society. He pointed out that such individuals, who are not touched by selfishness, will enhance the pride and development of the country. In a discussion with the youth, he said that it is essential to hold fast to ancient cultural values and achieve self-sufficiency for the security and progress of the country.

To mark the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Sangh, extensive programmes are being organized in various places including Siliguri in West Bengal. The Prabuddha Nagarik Sammelan held in Siliguri was attended by prominent personalities from places including Sikkim. Discussions were held in various sessions on the journey of the Sangh over the past 100 years and on dispelling misconceptions about the organization.
