CHENNAI: The campaign rally organized by TVK chief and Tamil superstar Vijay ended in a big tragedy leading to the deaths of 39 and leaving more than hundreds injured. However, Vijay left the spot after such a big tragedy happened.

Vijay had responded on social media that he was shattered and writhing in pain that cannot be expressed in words. However, Vijay did not console the families of the dead or visit the injured in the hospital. There is widespread criticism against this. Parties including DMK have also demanded that a case be filed against Vijay. The locals said that if they see Vijay, will beat him with their slippers.

'So many have lost their lives, what can he do? How can he go to the next place. He should not go and if he goes, will beat him with my slippers. He went from there and slept comfortably in the AC. We are lying on the streets. Will he take care of our family?’ asked a woman. ‘There's nothing wrong in entering into politics, but gathering people and showing off, one should not enter into politics after killing people,’ said another.
