BHOPAL: Police booked a Bangladesh national from Bhopal, after finding that he was leading an alternate life, masquerading as a transgender woman for the past 30 years. Known by the name Neha, police identified that it was Abdul Kalam, a Bangladeshi, who successfully duped all locals and even officials for the past 20 years and more. The police stated that Kalam was taken into custody for a period of 30 days.
Kalam came to India at the age of 10. He then lived in Mumbai for 20 years. After that, he moved to Budhwara in Bhopal. Here, he transitioned into a transgender person and became an activist in the local hijra group. During this time, he also acquired Aadhaar, a ration card, and even a passport. Police confirmed that Abdul even used this passport to travel abroad.
He introduced to everyone as Neha and even moved houses several times in Bhopal itself. He had been living in Bhopal for more than ten years. The police are conducting medical tests to determine whether it is a biological transition or a shrewd trick done to dupe locals and officials.
Abdul’s operation is also centred around Maharashtra, and police are looking into it. Officials have already picked up two youngsters who helped Abdul forge the documents. The police said that Abdul Kalam was taken into custody following a tip-off from an anonymous person. The police have received information that Kalam had gone to Bangladesh in the meantime. Reports indicate that efforts have been initiated to deport him.
