50th G7 summit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hold crucial bilateral talks with world leaders

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who left for Italy yesterday to attend the G7 summit, will hold crucial bilateral talks with world leaders today. Global peace is on the agenda at the summit. Ukraine and Gaza conflicts are expected to be discussed. The presence of Ukrainian President Zelensky will be notable.
Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Cooperation with Italy, including in the Indo-Pacific region, and partnership at the diplomatic level will be discussed.
Modi will hold bilateral talks with world leaders like US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. It is not clear whether the meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will take place due to the impasse on the Khalistan issue.

Before leaving for the trip, Modi said that it is a pleasure that his first foreign visit after becoming the Prime Minister for the third time is to the G7 Summit in Italy. Emphasis will be placed on topics such as artificial intelligence and energy. The Prime Minister also clarified that he will hold discussions with world leaders on a handful of issues with the aim of improving life on earth and raising the standard of living of the people. The 50th G7 Summit is being held in Apulia, Italy.
