Air ambulance bound for Delhi crashes; one killed, seven aboard

NEW DELHI: In a shocking incident, one person was killed after an air ambulance aircraft flying from Ranchi to Delhi crashed on Monday evening in Jharkhand’s Chatra district. The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Kumar (41), the patient who was being transported on the medical evacuation flight.

The aircraft took off from Ranchi at 7:11 PM and lost communication and radar contact at around 7:34 PM, about 100 nautical miles southeast of Varanasi. There were seven people on board, including a patient, a doctor, a paramedical staff member, two attendants, a pilot-in-command and a co-pilot.

The aircraft involved in the crash was a Beechcraft King Air BE9 operated by Redbird Airways Private Limited. Rescue teams led by the district administration and police have reached the crash site and are carrying out rescue operations. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau will conduct an investigation into the incident.
