BENGALURU: India's Amrit Distilleries, one of the leading distilleries in the world, has launched a new rum named 'Bella'. It is 100% crafted from jaggery.
Bella Rum crafted from mineral-rich jaggery and sourced from the Sahyadri ranges in the Western Ghats and Mandya in Karnataka, has matured for six years in ex-bourbon barrels in tropical climate. A nod to the rich Indian cultural heritage, the company launched Bella Rum to mark Amrit Distillery's 75th anniversary.
The vision behind the origin of Bella Rum is the vision of Neelkanta Rao Jagdale, the visionary behind India’s single malt revolution. Bella Rum is based on his deep respect for Indian culture and tradition. Amrit Distilleries, the world's game changer in terms of whiskey production, is reasserting its position with the launch of Bella. Rakshit N Jagdale, MD, Amrit Distilleries, said that he is proud to realize his father's vision by producing rum from jaggery.
In 2012, Amrit Distilleries acquired the license to produce single rum from jaggery from the Karnataka Excise Department. After the soft launch of Bella Rum in July this year, the global launch of the rum took place in Bengaluru.
