THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A huge rise is witnessed in the price of gold in the state for the third consecutive day. There was an increase of Rs 520 today taking the price of a sovereign to Rs 64,280. One gram of 22-carat gold is priced at Rs 8,035 and one gram of 24-carat gold is Rs 8,765. One sovereign of gold was priced at Rs 63,760 the other day with an increase of Rs 240. This is the second time in this month the price of a sovereign has crossed Rs 64,000.

Large funds and various central banks are eagerly buying gold as a safe investment. With the start of the wedding season in India and China, the increase in the use of gold has also led to a surge in prices. Gold is gaining popularity as a global alternative to the US dollar. Along with this, the depreciation of the rupee against the dollar has also led to an increase in import costs.

US President Donald Trump's trade tariff war and China's new economic strategies are expected to cause the price of gold to rise further. If the current trend continues, the price of one sovereign may reach Rs 65,000 by the end of February. Analysts say that in the current situation, the international gold price may go beyond $3,000 per ounce.

Today's Silver Price
There has been no change in the price of silver in the state today. The price of one gram of silver is Rs 108 and the price of one kilogram of silver is Rs 108,000.
