Covid cases rising in India; Kerala leads with 1400 patients

NEW DELHI: There is a concern on the increasing number of Covid cases in the country. The number of Covid cases in India has risen to 3758. The union ministry of health and family welfare has informed that the highest number of cases are being reported from Kerala.


There are presently 1400 Covid patients in Kerala, followed by Maharashtra with 506 cases. 1360 new Covid cases were reported in the last 24 hours. Two Covid deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours. Covid deaths were reported in Kerala and Karnataka. A 24-year-old woman died of Covid in Kerala. The health ministry said that she had liver disease and high blood pressure. A 63-year-old man died of Covid in Karnataka. The health ministry also informed that he had TB and other diseases. In the last 24 hours, 64 new Covid cases were reported in Kerala, 18 in Maharashtra, and 61 in Delhi. Six people have died of Covid in Kerala in the past five months.


The Omicron JN variant, LF7, which has been reported in Southeast Asian countries, is now spreading in Kerala. The LF7 subtype has not been declared dangerous by the World Health Organization (WHO) at present.
