NEW YORK: More information is out in connection with the deaths of wealthy Indian couple and their daughter in the US state of Massachusetts. Rakesh Kamal, 57, his wife Teena Kamal, 54 and their college-going daughter Arianna Kamal, 18 were found dead in their $5 million mansion in Dover, Massachusetts on December 28, 2023.

Reports said Rakesh shot himself after killing his wife and daughter. This was mentioned in the post mortem report. The police found the gun near Rakesh.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said that Rakesh had shot and killed his wife and daughter. The release pointed that the autopsy report handed over by the chief medical officer makes this clear.

The gun found near Rakesh is being examined. The press release also stated that the license of the gun is not in the name of Rakesh. Earlier, the police have stated that there is no evidence of anyone trespassing from outside the house. The bodies were found by their relative who arrived at their residence. It is reported that financial crises are behind the murders and suicides.

Educated from Boston University, MIT Solan School of Management and Stanford, Rakesh was working in the field of educational consulting. In 2016, he founded EduNova, an ed-tech company, with his wife Teena. The goal was to improve the quality of education from middle school to college level.

The firm grew rapidly. In 2019, they acquired a 19,000 square feet sprawling mansion with 11 bedrooms for Rs 34 crore. With the closure of the company in 2021, the family faced a huge financial crisis. Their mansion was foreclosed on a year ago. 25 crores including the residence was sold to Massachusetts based company Wilsondale Associates.
The property was valued at Rs 41 crore at the time of sale. Educated from Harvard and Delhi Universities, Teena had filed bankruptcy in September 2022 but was rejected. Ariana was a neuroscience student at Middlebury College in Vermont.
