NEW DELHI: A non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over making derogatory remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The action was taken by a court in Chaibasa, Jharkhand.
The court directed Rahul Gandhi to appear in person on May 26. Rahul Gandhi requested to avoid appearing in person, but the court rejected it.

The remark was made at the Congress plenary session in 2018.
In July of the same year, Pratap Katiyar, a BJP worker from Jharkhand, approached the court against Rahul Gandhi. Despite repeated summons in the case, Rahul Gandhi did not appear. Following this, the court issued a bailable warrant against Rahul Gandhi. The Jharkhand High Court disposed of Rahul Gandhi's petition seeking a stay on the warrant last year. The non-bailable arrest warrant was issued after the Chaibasa court rejected Rahul Gandhi's plea requesting to avoid appearing in person at the court.
